Field Surveys#
The biggest thing I need help with is collecting survey data. If you have a handheld GPS, notebook, and love exploring our amazing Пластові оселі, you can help!
Check out any issues marked as “Survey Needed” for details on what needs to be done.
Report inaccuracies#
Is a map out of date because there is a new road or building?
Is a trail overgrown and doesn’t really exist anymore?

Mimics color schemes and symbols used in the popular and familiar USGS topo map series.

Corner Ruler UTM Grid Tool#
Measure & plot UTM coordinates. This “roamer style” grid tool kit is custom-made to include rulers for the 1:4000 and 1:1250 scales used in the Новий Сокіл map set.
- Instructions:
Print out onto 8.5x11 transparency film
Cut out individual grid tools
Punch out the three small pencil-holes (use a nail or drill)
Punch out the lanyard hole with a standard hole punch
Cut marks shown in red#

The original variants of this map were created in 1994 before GPS was ubiquitous. Trails were surveyed by meticulously walking PK with a compass and counting paces.
